The Irrestistable Offer: a review of the book by Mark Joyner

I am reading a great book right now called The Irresistible Offer: How to Sell Your Product or Service in 3 Seconds or Less by Mark Joyner. In it he sets out four questions a customer must have answered if they are to rush and buy your product. They are

  1. What are you trying to sell me?
  2. How much?
  3. What’s in it for me?
  4. Why should I believe you?

This offer was used to great effect by Domino’s Pizza. You know the line “your pizza in 30 mins or less or you get it free”.

Really study that line because it took Dominos to the top even though for many people their pizzas are not that great.

You make think that the Irresistible Offer is the same as a Unique Selling Proposition but Joyner says that uniqueness will not get someone down to shop to but the product there and then.A USP will not answer the 4 questions above.

Then he delves into ways of making the offer even better like pricing tricks and risk reversal. But hey I am giving too much away.Get the book now.

I’ll give you an update when I’ve finished the book.

    Hi Andrew

I came across you through Tony Shepherd’s blog.

I bought (and read) “The Irrestible Offer” over two years ago and the four Q’s you mention above have stayed with me. In fact I’ve just dug it out again just now and intend to re-read it over the Xmas period.! A rattling good read as they say!

I particularly like the sub-heading “How to sell your prduct or service in 3 seconds or Less”- how’s that for an attention grabber?

    Thanks for the reminder.

    Best Regards

    John

Hello John yes it’s a great book, just reading the last chapter about selling yourself.Think about the four questions and how you would reply if directed at you!
The other good points were : offer them some freebies and only pitch to a thirsty crowd. This is why keyword research is so important.

Have you been through Tony’s Kickstart course?I am up to lesson five and have just launched an ebook on Clickbank.

Any way have a good Christmas and New Year.

    Hi Andrew

    Happy New Year to you.

I have been through Tony’s Kick Start course – I finished in late October. For me it was well worth it, and I recommend it to anyone. I have a Clickbank product as well, linked to an autoresponder sequence. http://www.IMvideotrainingpack.com I need to give it some attention, but I am concentrating on my new holiday property website portal at the moment. http://www.Friendlycottages.com

    Regards

    John

Thanks John, how long does the course last? How is your video training course selling?Do you do any PPC with it or do people just find it through clickbank?I have a website about Dorset http://www.the-dorset-guru.com which would compliment your cottages site.Do you want to exchange links? Do you have Dorset cottages listed?

    Thanks

    Andrew

    Hi Andrew

Sorry about the delay in replying. Tony’s course lasts 52 weeks, delivered in weekly chunks. I have sold a handful of my video training course – I need to promote it more, other than through Clickbank. I have used PPC on a very small scale with Yahoo, no success to speak of. I have been doing a fair bit of SEO with the Friendly Cottages site, so need to build backlinks to my Clickbank product as well.

Interesting site you have with http://www.the-dorset-guru.com I’m aware of SBI, which you would obviously recommend. Can we exchange links, then? I don’t have any Dorset cottages listed as yet, just 5 in Scotland and Ireland at the moment. I am currentl offering a free listing for 12 months to around 10-15 cottage owners, just to get the site populated and going. So any cottage owners, say 2 or 3, in Dorset who would like a free listing for a year would be welcomed.

    Best Regards

    John
