Writing good content

Posted: April 20th, 2011 | Author: | Filed under: Internet Marketing | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , | No Comments »

Writing good content will always beat SEO because it is good content that Google is looking for.

That is why they have are now giving more weight to backlinks from sites with high page rankings because then they know the content must be good.

So what can you write about?

There is a temptation to go for a subject you are already an expert on and this makes sense most of the time, because less research is required. However it can sometimes be an advantage to pick a niche you know very little about but would have high monetization potential.

The advantage with this approach is you can get into the mindset of a visitor to your site who know little about the subject themselves but wants to learn more.So what questions would you ask if you were a newbie to a niche? The answers to those questions will form the content of your site.

If you need inspiration as to what questions would be asked go to Yahoo Answers and do a search on your niche.Somebody, hopefully, will be asking the questions you can give answers to.

What is your keyword phrase?

You must decide on your site concept keyword that will go in your URL if possible. This is a word that has good demand but not too much competition. You can use the Google Keyword Tool for that and as for competition just type the keyword into Google and under the search result you will get a number. If it’s not too big, under a million ,then you are in business.

It is important that there is depth in your keyword so any derivative of that keyword still gets good traffic. It is no use if your keyword has good demand but any derivative gets little traffic. You will have a very small website if you go after such as keyword.

After building up a good list of keywords that have your primary keyword in it,you want to find good keywords that are related to your keyword but do not have the keyword in it.An example would be a primary keyword of rock climbing having a secondary keyword phrase of climbing rope.

I use a website building system called Site Sell which has a great keyword search tool.It will pull in all the keywords that relate to your primary keyword phrase, some you just would not have thought of.

So do you keyword research first before you ever start thinking about SEO.If you keyword phrase gets no traffic or would be difficult to monetize then you should move on to another niche. Site Sell also has a great tool called Brainstorming which you can use when you know the general area you are looking at.It will bring back more specific niches which you can then research futher.

All this research may seem to take a long time, but believe me you will be glad you did when the money starts rolling in.

Make your blog better

Posted: March 22nd, 2011 | Author: | Filed under: Internet Marketing | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , | No Comments »

Here are 7 strategies that you need to look at if your blog is just not getting the traffic you wish it had.

  1. Compare your blog with others and look how a high traffic blog presents itself.
  2. If your content is poor you will get no comments. Are you sure you are giving good value?
  3. Too many banner ads.Have a few but not to the extent they crowd out your content.
  4. Get the right SEO plug ins  such as All in One SEO do keyword research.Make sure the keyword phrase your want to use is in the permalink.
  5. Change you blog design.Maybe it's time to go to a more versatile  theme like Thesis.
  6. Choose another niche, maybe the one you are in is just not right for you.
  7. Is your blog content too general? Are you trying to all things to all people?Perhaps you need to narrow your focus. There will be less competition the more focused your niche.

Finding a JV partner

Posted: August 16th, 2010 | Author: | Filed under: Internet Marketing | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , | No Comments »

One of the ways to grow your list is to JV or joint venture with someone who is also in  your niche.

There is a right and wrong way of approaching a potential JV partner.

1.Until you have a big list do not approach the big gurus like Frank Kern or Eban Pagan, they will ignore you.

2.Find up and coming marketers in your niche and start posting on their blogs or Facebook Fan Pages.Try and be a bit controversial,as the blog owner may come back to you. Then you get a conversation going and you will build trust. Then offer to promote THEIR product to your list.Once you have helped them they will want to help you.A good way of promoting to your list is to do a joint webinar with your JV.

3.A way of finding such up and coming JVers is to become an affiliate of one of the big boys as they launch a new product. They usually hold a competition to see which affiliates bring in the most sales.Google there people and find their blogs. Then start posting.

4.Still got a small list?Under 500?Build the list first, use Google Ads to drive traffic to your squeeze.

Hope that helps, what strategies do you use to attract JVs?

All the best

Tracking site visitors

Posted: August 7th, 2010 | Author: | Filed under: Internet Marketing | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , | No Comments »

The business guru Tom Peters once said “if it can be measured it can be managed”.In the context of internet marketing you need to know where your traffic is coming from and how that traffic is finding you.

Now I use three different strategies. One is to create a website using Site Build It.

This is a service that tells you everything about how to build a website from scratch even if you have no HTML knowledge. The best thing I can suggest is that you click this SBI link which tells you the benefits of this business in a box service.

Site Build It!

If that’s not for you but you want to track visitor information then you will need to install Google Analytics and/or Woopra both of which will give you immense details on your traffic. With Woopra you can even chat to people as they visit your site which may freak them out!

You will need to install code on your website blog to get traffic stats but if you have a WordPress Blog then there is a plugin for both which makes it all really easy.

Let me know if you need any help.

Best Wishes

Andrew

Mike Dillard’s Traffic Formula 2.0

Posted: May 28th, 2009 | Author: | Filed under: Internet Marketing | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , | No Comments »

Mike Dillard change the MLM business when he released Magnetic Sponsoring, which introduced the concept of attraction marketing.

Now he is updating his formula to reflect the explosion in social media and web 2.0.

He has released a 36 minute video which you can get access to here .It sets out his formula for creating an online business that is owned by YOU not your MLM company.

With an MLM business you really own nothing as the product and how it is marketed is owned by the company.

MLM companies can go out of business,or they can kick you out if you do something they don’t like.

You need a strategy that will create a list of subscribers who have a relationship with you not your company and that you can market to.

Mike sets out how this is achieved so go grab his free video now
