No matter what kind of website or blog you have,if you are to move up the search engine rankings then you have to have backlinks to your site.Asking other webmasters is one way of doing this,however the more popular ones,the ones with a high PR ,can afford to be more choosy who they link to.

Then tend to stay away from newbie sites so you have to look at other options.One way is to write article related to your niche and post them at various article directories.The one I use is Ezine.com .You should use these articles to give value to your readers not just do a blatant sales pitch.

It is a good idea to write some articles that are not related to your niche,Ezine like that.I just did one and I have now achieved expert author status which means my article get greater prominence on the site

So think of some topics you are interested in and write 400-500 word articles.This will improve your profile as someone who wants to help not just sell stuff.Go and do it.
