Writing good content

Writing good content will always beat SEO because it is good content that Google is looking for.

That is why they have are now giving more weight to backlinks from sites with high page rankings because then they know the content must be good.

So what can you write about?

There is a temptation to go for a subject you are already an expert on and this makes sense most of the time, because less research is required. However it can sometimes be an advantage to pick a niche you know very little about but would have high monetization potential.

The advantage with this approach is you can get into the mindset of a visitor to your site who know little about the subject themselves but wants to learn more.So what questions would you ask if you were a newbie to a niche? The answers to those questions will form the content of your site.

If you need inspiration as to what questions would be asked go to Yahoo Answers and do a search on your niche.Somebody, hopefully, will be asking the questions you can give answers to.

What is your keyword phrase?

You must decide on your site concept keyword that will go in your URL if possible. This is a word that has good demand but not too much competition. You can use the Google Keyword Tool for that and as for competition just type the keyword into Google and under the search result you will get a number. If it’s not too big, under a million ,then you are in business.

It is important that there is depth in your keyword so any derivative of that keyword still gets good traffic. It is no use if your keyword has good demand but any derivative gets little traffic. You will have a very small website if you go after such as keyword.

After building up a good list of keywords that have your primary keyword in it,you want to find good keywords that are related to your keyword but do not have the keyword in it.An example would be a primary keyword of rock climbing having a secondary keyword phrase of climbing rope.

I use a website building system called Site Sell which has a great keyword search tool.It will pull in all the keywords that relate to your primary keyword phrase, some you just would not have thought of.

So do you keyword research first before you ever start thinking about SEO.If you keyword phrase gets no traffic or would be difficult to monetize then you should move on to another niche. Site Sell also has a great tool called Brainstorming which you can use when you know the general area you are looking at.It will bring back more specific niches which you can then research futher.

All this research may seem to take a long time, but believe me you will be glad you did when the money starts rolling in.

The mindset for success as an entrepreneur

Here are some things I learnt about becoming more successful in business:

  1. Speed of implementation-once you have a idea put it into action,do not procrastinate. You can spend forever waiting for the right moment before launching a new product or idea.Do it now.If it does not work then know you have learned a lesson.Use it and move on.Which leads to..
  2. Failure is just an idea it is not a thing.Failure only exists inside your head if you let it.The great inventor Thomas Eddison said every time something did not work he knew he was one step closer to finding something that did.
  3. You get paid for results not work.People will only hand over money when they get what they want. You must streamline your activities so that everything serves the goal of giving the customer what she wants. So get away from the employee mindset of “I turn up for work so I should be paid”
  4. Most of the things you try in business will not work.Just accept that. You try things then move on.If there is no motion there is stagnation and that means death to your business.
  5. The three things you need to make your business work are a product, marketing and systems. Most people focus on the first to the detriment of the other two.Your marketing must be scientific. You must be able to measure everything, where your leads are coming from and how much they spend to name just two.Your system is how the business works. How orders are taken, where stock is kept ,how product is delivered, how payment is handled, how return goods are handled and how accounting is handled. Once the system is running you just need to fine tune it now and again ,but any bottle necks will close you down.

How do you define success?

Posted: May 26th, 2009 | Author: | Filed under: Personal Growth | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , | No Comments »

Really,I want you to think about this.

To alot of people this would mean as much money as they wanted,so that could buy whatever they wanted and have the best experiences too.But have you ever seen that statistic where 95% of people who win the lottery are broke again within five years.

You see people might say they want to be rich but underneath they don’t.

What they want is the comfort and safety  which is why they are content to stay in cubicle land where they are told what to do,when to do it and how much they will be paid to do it.

This safety will be lacking when you start a work form home job.Can you discipline yourself to do what needs to be done, cut out the distractions and just keep going?

Some may define success by how many people like them which often goes hand in hand with the safety model. If you do what you are told to do how could anyone dislike you?

Or is success to you defined by failure. You knew it wouldn’t work and hey you were right.

You need to see where you are in all this because if yout mindset is against you no business guru is going to save you.

AND you must see what success is for people who are going to join your team, because if they are any of the above they will not help your grow your business.

Ask the right questions of yourself and others and you will have the right mindset and so will your team.
