If you look at any webpage and then from the drop down menu of your browser select “view source” you will see the HTML code which is what the search come to look at when they visit your website.
There is a whole industry built around getting web pages to the top of Google for particular keywords. Now you can go off an pay someone a lot money to get your website well ranked but there are a few things you can do yourself.
1.When you register your domain name do so for more than one year,Google likes to see that.
2.When you write, decide on a keyword phrase, one that people actually use to find what they are looking for ,and ensure it is in the file name, the title the header and the first line of the main text.It should also be at the bottom of your page. However after that write as if you are writing for a human not a search engine.Avoid keyword stuffing.More on that below.
3.A good free keyword search tool is Google’s keyword tool which will show you both demand and competition for any keyword you choose.Look for one that gets at least 200 hits a month.
There are some “black hat” tactics which use to work but not any more. These are tactics that are a bit underhand in that they do not help your visitor, merely improve you site’s chances of getting up the ranking.
They are keyword stuffing i.e. using the keyword phrase too much on the hope Google will rank you site higher and duplicating your site so that the sheer number of sites brings in more sales.
Neither of these tactics will now work. The Google bots have got alot cleverer at spotting these black hat tactics.
What will work is ensuring the meta name ” description” and “title” contain your keyword phrase.
To insert this code you must access the HTML code on your host server and ensure the meta names have your keyword phrase showing.
This must be placed between the <head> tag and the</head> tag which is always at the top of the web page.
The text here is not shown by your web browser but will get picked up by the search engines. The description and title are the words that appear in the search engine results so ensure your keyword phrase appears in both.It will push you up the rankings.
Article marketing:six ways to increase your opt ins
Article marketing is one of the best methods for driving traffic to your website or landing page.It involves writing articles about your niche and uploading them to article directories with high page rank so that you build backlinks to your website and increase the traffic you receive.
You will need of course an article to market with so here are my seven tips for ensuring your article has the best chance of being noticed by targeted traffic who will come to your website and buy.
1.The headline must be catchy. The importance of the headline cannot be overstated. It must compel the reader to go into the body of the article. As people are surfing the net for information list titles are always very appealing.”The ten things you must do on order to have a successful xxxx. Then in the first two sentences of the article state a problem you know your customer has and then show them the article has the answers.
2.Write an article that is between 450 and 600 words long and is related to the free report you are giving away on your opt in page or to the product you are selling on your sales page.
3.Submit your article to the directories such as Ezinearticles.com and goarticles.com.I would recommend you submit to Ezinearticles.com first as they are the most stringent in accepting articles. They check to see if your article has been copied from other sites so if you get past them you know you are OK.
4.Ensure that your signature page links to both an authority blog/website and a sales page.People want to see who they are buying from and whilst you can tell a little bit about yourself on the sales page the main job of the page is to sell.To build credibility you need a site that shows you know about the product you are selling and what it’s benefits are.
5.Your content must be interesting but incomplete. What you reveal in the article must be able to stand alone but it must not give the full picture of what your customer needs to know. You need to leave your customer with a feeling of wanting more and they can only get that from going to your sales page and buying the product.
6.Ensure you have a powerful punchy close that will get the reader all excited to learn more.” You now have the information you need to rapidly improve xxxx” but for even more helpful advice visit my blog at www.myblog.com to unlock the secrets of xxxxx ”
Follow these simple steps and you will have more views or your article and clicks through to your sales page.
Forum marketing is marketing tool that gets you noticed in the niche you are in and at the same time gives you valuable back links to your website.
So what is the best way of going about forum marketing?
First you need to find the right forums for your niche.Go to big-boards.com and use there search facility to find the forums that operate in your niche. You can search by Alexa ranking or by keyword and see the number of posts made ,number of members and page views.
Once you have found the right forums, I would suggest about 10 is a good number, you will need to register otherwise you will not be able to post. Some forums will check your site out to ensure it is relevant to that forum but if you have done your research this will not be a problem.
You will need to check the policies of the forum to ensure you don’t get banned for inappropriate behavior. You must know if you are allowed to promote your business. Some forums will only allows this in your signature file.If you are wanting to use forums to gain back links to your site check if the forum is either follow on no follow. If it is no follow you will get no kudos from the search engines for having a back link to your site.
Using your name is the best option for a user name if your brand is yourself but if you have a business name that will do as well.Ensure you upload a picture of yourself .Avoid pictures that have no relevance to your business
A bio of yourself is also useful but stick to showing people how your talents can help them.Do NOT go on about yourself.People are on forums to find information or people who can help them.So list the benefits of your expertise.Leave a means for people to contact you be it a website or email address.
Many forums encourage new members to introduce themselves.Often at the top of a forum are fixed posts which never move down the list of posts. There you will find an “introduce yourself” section.Tell people a little about yourself.Once your have done that start reading the posts and see where you can make a contribution.
You need to be seen as an expert in your niche so resist the urge to ask to many questions.Look to “pay it forward” and find questions from other forum users that do not even have one response .Go in there and provide an answer. You will get much kudos from the person asking the question if you are the first to reply. They may well start following you.
Usually the place to market yourself is in your signature file. This is the piece of narrative that you have written in which you tell people what expertise you have and have you can help.Ensure you have a hyperlink back to your blog or website.Write something like”Joe Smith is dedicated to helping people achieve the goal of xxxxx and invites you to sign up for your free seven day training in xxxx” Show them the benefits and offer something free.
I would resist the urge to outsource forums posts.Ofter an outsourcer will just write “great post” or something similar clearly showing the post is there just to get a back link.
You run the risk of getting banned if you do too much of this.Only hire people who know your niche and can demonstrate success in this area with other clients. You will most likely have to pay more but the risk is too great if you hire someone just because they are cheap.
So follow these forum marketing tips and watch the traffic come to your site.

There are many ways you can start an online business and the purpose of this article is to show you some on the most popular and lucrative so that you can decide which is the best one for you.
An online store has been popular for years and with Ebay you can have one set up in minutes.Cafe Press is another where your designs can be on T shirts and mugs at no up front cost to you.
You need to know if there is demand for the product you are going to offer and a good way of checking this is go on ebay and see if your proposed product is already for sale. Then check if people are actually buying it.
Try also entering the search term in Google and see if there are any paid advertisements along the top and right side of the page.If there are you know that the product is selling as people are paying Google to place those ads.
Once you know there is demand you need to go a little deeper to ascertain the depth of demand. You do this by using the Google keyword tool which will bring back any search terms which use your phrase.Ensure you use the “exact match” function when performing this search.
The key here is to find a keyword where there is good demand but only little or medium levels of competition.Too many people go after high demand keywords create a site and then wonder any they are on page 22 of the Google search results.
You will make more money by selling a product you yourself made or had made either a physical product or an online product such as information. Then you know the product is unique and you will keep all the profit. You can then seek out affiliates to market the product for you.Now you will need to pay those affiliates a commission to make a sale typically 50% to 60% but as they do all the work why would you not do this?40% of something is better than 100% of nothing.
Payment options
If you are selling products online then you need a system to take credit card payments.Probably the most widely used is Paypal. Most people who buy stuff online now have a Paypal account.Paypal do a take a commission of the sale but otherwise it is a free service. If you have a bigger budget then use Infusionsoft which will also take all credit card payments if the customer does not Paypal but this is a paid service.
Blogging
Blogging has become a popular basis for an online business with WordPress the industry standard platform.Once you have a domain name registered and a hosting platform in place you can have a WordPress site up in minutes.
Again do keyword research to find a niche that is popular but does not have too much competition then start blogging.Do not make every page a sales pitch as people are on the net to find information about stuff not to be sold to.If you give them the right information to make an informed choice they will grow to like and trust you and be more likely to buy from you.
Once you have written a blog post you must syndicate the content to social media and social bookmarking sites via Ping.FM and Onlywire. This will expose your content to more readers and provide much needed back links to your blog.
Affiliate marketing and Google adsense
These are probably the two most popular methods of starting to earn money online as they can be done at no cost and do not require you to create a product.Once set up they will run on auto pilot.Adsense is the other side of Google adwords.Google gives you code to put on your site and then Google will place ads there that have relevance to the content of your blog or website. How much Google will pay depends on the competitiveness of the keyword used.
Once the code is on your site Google record the clicks and monies due to you which goes straight into your bank account when the income threshold ( set by Google I am afraid) is reached.
With affiliate marketing you promote someone else’s product on your site and if a customer clicks through from your site to the sales page special code on your site will show the customer came form your site and you will get a commission.
Clickbank is the most popular site for digital affiliate products. These are the easiest to sell as there is no shipping beyond the customer downloading the product. You do not have to worry about customer service that is all handled by the merchant. The bonus with Clickbank is it will ensure you are paid for a sale. You have no fear of not being paid by the merchant.
Autorepsonder
With any site you have it’s a good idea to offer a free report in return for gaining a customer.Once you have the email address of many people you can market products to that list. The important thing is to build a relationship with that list so that they come to know like and trust you. Then they will be more likely to buy from you.If you give your list value and training this trust will bring you sales.
I recommend Aweber as the tool to build your list.It allows you to place opt in forms on your website as a means of growing a list of email subscribers that you can market to over time.
So these are some of the options open to you as you consider starting an online business.Start with affiliate products and Adsense. Then develop your own products.

What are back links?
A back link is just a link from one website to another.By installing special HTML code we can what’s called “hyperlink” some text so that when someone clicks on that text they are taken to another website.
If there link is to another website then we would call that an external link as we are moving from one site to another. However you can also have links from one page of a website to another page within the same site. This would be called an internal link and make it easier for a visitor to navigate around your site.
Internal linking is also good for search engine optimisation as it makes it easier for the Google spiders to navigate around your site and see what it is about.
Back linking is also used by Google to gauge the importance of your site. The more one way links you have coming to your site from other sites then Google will give you a higher ranking.I should qualify that by saying your site will get a high ranking if sites with a high page rank link to your site.
Page rank is a system devised by Google to show how it views any one website. The ranking runs from zero to ten,ten being the best.If you can get a website with a page rank of five or more to link to you that will give your site more kudos than 50 sites linking to you which only have a ranking of one.
So look for sites the compliment yours and have a high page rank. Then contact the owners of those sites and ask them to link to you.
Ignore link farms which exist just to get high page rank and have no real authority with Google.Google will just ignore these sites and give you no higher ranking.
You should strive to build an authority site of yourself and as traffic grows other sites with high page ranking will want to link to yours.
As important as page rank is whether a link to your site is a do follow or no follow link.If the link is a do follow then by linking to a site you are in essence giving that site a vote and so it will be pushed up the Google rankings.
However you may not wish to give the site you are linking to a vote if for example you were telling your readers about a bad website,in that case you can make the link no follow so the site does not get your vote.
You can waste a lot of time in securing back links from other website only to discover the links are nofollow and will not make any difference to your page rank or whether you get on page one of Google.
So please ensure you check this point out on any website before you go asking for back links.
There are browser add ons which will tell you instantly if a hyperlink is do follow or no follow.
If you use Fire Fox the use this one Search Status which will also tell you a sites Alexa ranking and Google Page rank to name but a few.
